Domaine Francois Millet’s Sancerre Grands Champs 2022 is a classic expression of Sauvignon Blanc from one of the Loire Valley’s most respected terroirs. Sourced from the southern part of the Sancerre appellation in Bué, it combines precision, freshness, and the kind of mineral-driven character that has made Sancerre a benchmark white wine for generations.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, expect a bright, pale straw color with green reflections. The nose is typically lively and refined, offering citrus, green apple, white flowers, and a flinty, chalky edge that reflects the appellation’s distinctive soils. On the palate, the wine should feel crisp and focused, with clean acidity, zesty lemon and grapefruit notes, and a subtle saline minerality that gives the wine length and definition. The stainless-steel aging preserves its freshness and aromatic purity, while the structure suggests it can drink beautifully now and gain a touch more complexity over the next 2–4 years.

Production
The wine comes from Bué, in the southern part of Sancerre, where the Loire’s cooler climate and mineral soils are well suited to Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are gently pressed using pneumatic pressing, then the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks for 10 months to preserve freshness, precision, and varietal expression.

Food & Serving
This Sancerre is an excellent match for oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, goat cheese, and light dishes with fresh herbs or citrus. Serve chilled at 8–10°C; decanting is not necessary, though opening it a few minutes before serving can help the aromas unfold.
