Description
Domaine Dujac Morey-Saint-Denis Blanc 2009 is a rare and elegant Burgundy Chardonnay from the estate’s own parcels in the lower slopes of Morey-Saint-Denis. Its cool, mineral-driven terroir and restrained use of oak give it a refined balance of freshness, depth, and subtle complexity. As a white wine from a producer best known for its red Burgundies, it carries a special sense of distinction and historical interest.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a golden-yellow color that hints at its maturity. The nose opens with aromas of pear, apple, and toasted nuts, layered with a quiet mineral note that reflects its limestone and clay origins.
On the palate, it is elegant and well balanced, combining ripe fruit, a gentle touch of buttery richness, and a precise line of acidity that brings length and freshness. The 2009 vintage is now fully mature and harmonious, offering finesse and complexity at a peak drinking moment, though it should still hold well for those who enjoy developed Burgundy whites.
Production
This wine comes from Domaine Dujac’s own parcels on the lower slopes of Morey-Saint-Denis, where clay and limestone create a cool, mineral terroir well suited to Chardonnay. The grapes are vinified with a focus on preserving freshness, then aged for around one year in oak barrels, with only a modest proportion of new wood used to add texture and depth without overpowering the wine’s character.
Food & Serving
An excellent match for fine poultry, roasted or poached fish, shellfish, and creamy mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 10-12°C to allow the aromas to unfold, and decanting is optional but can be beneficial for gently aerating an older white Burgundy.
Producer
Domaine Dujac is one of Burgundy’s most respected estates, known for its thoughtful, terroir-driven winemaking and its strong reputation in Morey-Saint-Denis and beyond. Founded in 1968, the domaine has built a loyal following for wines that combine perfume, precision, and aging potential, and this rare white cuvée adds another layer to its prestigious portfolio.
