Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a deeply colored, powerful red with impressive density and intensity. The nose opens with ripe black and red fruit, especially cherry and blueberry, layered with warm spice, dark garrigue notes, and subtle oak complexity. The palate is broad and supple, with very ripe fruit at the core, firm but ripe tannins, and a long, persistent finish. Despite its richness, the wine retains balance and structure, suggesting excellent aging potential over the coming years, where it should gain even more nuance and harmony.

Production
The grapes come from a fragmented estate of more than sixty parcels, creating a true mosaic of terroirs that adds complexity to the final blend. Because of the difficult soils and terrain, harvesting is done entirely by hand, and the wine is made using traditional methods. It is matured with 40% in new oak barrels and 60% in large foudres, preserving both freshness and the depth of the old-vine fruit.

Food & Serving

Producer
Domaine de la Janasse was established when Aimé Sabon began bottling his own wines in 1967, having previously sold grapes to the local cooperative. What started with 15 hectares has grown to around 90, and today the domaine is run by the Sabon family, with Christophe Sabon and Isabelle Sabon playing key roles. Over a relatively short period, Janasse has earned an outstanding reputation as one of the jewels of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, admired for both its consistency and its exceptional terroir-driven cuvées.
