Domaine de Ferrand’s La Ferrande 2023 is a classic, charming Côtes du Rhône that captures the warmth and character of the southern Rhône. Produced by a family estate in Orange with roots dating back to the 1800s, it offers a balanced, terroir-driven style that blends ripe fruit, spice, and structure with ease.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour. The nose is open and inviting, with ripe red and dark berries, Mediterranean herbs, and a subtle peppery edge. On the palate, the wine is juicy, rounded, and harmonious, with soft tannins and a warm fruit profile. The finish is nicely spiced and persistent, giving it both immediate appeal and enough structure to enjoy over the next few years.

Production
La Ferrande is made from a traditional Rhône blend of Grenache, Syrah, Vaccarèse, and Carignan. Grenache brings generosity and ripe fruit, Syrah adds spice and backbone, while the supporting grapes contribute freshness and complexity. The estate’s vineyards in the Rhône benefit from the region’s sunny, Mediterranean climate and the expressive terroir of southern France, with vinification aimed at preserving balance, fruit purity, and the natural character of the grapes.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, lamb, beef, and rustic dishes from the south of France. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 20–30 minutes if you want to let the aromas open up further.

Today, the Bravay family, led by Philippe Bravay and his wife Mireille, continues the tradition with a focus on honest, terroir-expressive wines. With vineyards in both Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the domaine is well regarded for its authentic southern Rhône style and commitment to quality.
