Domaine Chanzy’s Santenay 1er Cru “Beaurepaire” White 2023 is a generous, intensely styled Burgundy Chardonnay that offers remarkable value for a premier cru white. From the same celebrated Beaurepaire vineyard as the estate’s red, it reflects both the pedigree of the site and the finesse of winemaker Max Blondelle’s touch.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a luminous golden hue that hints at its richness and concentration. The nose is expressive and layered, with citrus, mango, pineapple, honey, hazelnut, and a subtle buttery note unfolding with air. The palate is full and textured, almost oily in its smoothness, yet beautifully balanced by bright citrus fruit, exotic fruit depth, and a distinct mineral backbone. It has impressive length and already offers plenty of charm, while also carrying the structure to develop gracefully over the next 8–10 years.

Production
This Chardonnay comes from the premier cru Beaurepaire vineyard in Santenay, a site that lends both power and mineral precision to the wine. After pressing and fermentation, the wine spends 10 months in used French oak barrels, allowing it to gain texture and complexity without overwhelming the fruit.

Food & Serving
Ideal with roasted poultry, creamy seafood dishes, lobster, scallops, or rich mushroom-based preparations. Serve at 10–12°C to bring out both the freshness and the depth, and decanting is not necessary, though a short period in the glass will help the wine open up beautifully.
