Domaine Bliemerose, Alsace Riesling, 2019

Domaine Bliemerose’s 2019 Alsace Riesling is a beautifully expressive white wine that combines ripe fruit, floral lift, and the precision you expect from one of Alsace’s classic grape varieties. Sourced from the domaine’s own biodynamically farmed vineyards around Rosheim, it reflects both a strong sense of place and a thoughtful, hands-off approach in the cellar.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows good depth and a charming floral character, with aromas that range across white blossoms and fresh tropical fruit. On the palate, it is intense and generous, delivering layers of juicy, ripe tropical fruit before finishing with a lively spicy note and a very persistent, complex aftertaste. Its structure and concentration suggest excellent versatility at the table, while the balance of fruit, spice, and freshness gives it the potential to develop further with a few years of bottle age. As it matures, expect the fruit to evolve toward more nuanced, honeyed and mineral tones.

Production
The grapes come from Domaine Bliemerose’s own vineyards near Rosheim in Alsace, all cultivated according to biodynamic principles. Harvesting is done by hand, with bunches sorted in the vineyard before being gently placed in the press. Pressing is slow and careful over eight hours, and only the finest part of the must is used. Fermentation takes place naturally with indigenous yeasts, followed by 11 months of ageing in oak casks before bottling at the estate.

Food & Serving
This is a highly versatile Riesling that works especially well with poultry, pork, shellfish, Asian cuisine, and aromatic dishes with a touch of spice. It also pairs nicely with creamy cheeses, vegetable-based dishes, and richer fish preparations. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, although a short time in the glass can help the aromas open up.
