Description

Domaine Antonin Guyon’s Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2023 is a refined expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated vineyard sites. Sourced from a very small parcel in Gevrey-Chambertin, it combines rarity, precision, and the depth that has made Grand Cru Burgundy so highly sought after for generations.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine shows an elegant ruby-red color with a poised, luminous rim. The nose opens with intense aromas of morello cherry, red cherry, violet, forest floor, and subtle spice, all wrapped in a distinctly Burgundian sense of finesse. The palate is rich and layered, yet beautifully balanced, with silky tannins, impressive depth, and a long, refined finish where ripe fruit and mineral nuance stay in harmony. It has excellent aging potential, and over the next 10–15 years it should gain even more complexity, developing notes of leather, dried flowers, mushrooms, and warm spice while its structure becomes more supple and integrated.

Production
The grapes come from the prestigious Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, where limestone- and clay-rich soils bring both structure and aromatic delicacy to the wine. The parcel is extremely small, which contributes to the wine’s concentration and rarity. Harvested by hand and vinified traditionally, the wine undergoes around 15 days of fermentation in open wooden vats with manual punching down to ensure gentle but thorough extraction of color, tannin, and aroma. It is then matured for approximately 18 months in 100% new oak barrels, adding spice, structure, and significant cellaring potential.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for game birds, duck, beef, veal in cream sauce, truffle-based dishes, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out the wine’s aromatic detail and silky texture. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine to open fully and show its layered complexity.

Producer
Domaine Antonin Guyon is a family-owned estate in Burgundy known for producing classic, terroir-driven wines from the Côte de Nuits. The domaine has built its reputation on traditional methods, hand harvesting, strict selection, and extended oak aging that highlight the finesse and complexity of Pinot Noir. It is regarded as a respected name in the region, particularly for its polished, ageworthy Grand Cru wines.
