Description
Dom Ruinart Rosé 1996 is a rare prestige cuvée that combines the precision and elegance of Chardonnay with the depth and structure of Pinot Noir. Crafted only in exceptional years, it reflects Ruinart’s long-standing mastery of Champagne and the house’s signature style of finesse, purity, and refinement.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a luminous, mature rosé hue with subtle copper and salmon reflections. The bouquet is layered and complex, offering aromas of dried rose petals, citrus peel, red berries, toasted brioche, and hints of spice and hazelnut.
On the palate, it is poised and expansive, with a fine mousse, crystalline acidity, and flavors of ripe strawberry, blood orange, peach skin, and baked pastry. The finish is long, dry, and nuanced, with remarkable persistence. Thanks to its depth and structure, it has excellent aging potential and can continue to evolve gracefully over time.
Production
Produced in Champagne from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from top vineyard sites, Dom Ruinart Rosé is a prestige cuvée shaped by exceptional terroir and meticulous selection. The 1996 vintage, known for its strong acidity and outstanding aging potential, allowed Ruinart to craft a wine of both tension and richness. Vinification follows a careful traditional Champagne method, with aging on lees to build complexity and texture before release.
Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, salmon tartare, seared tuna, duck breast, or poultry with subtle fruit sauces. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and delicate mushroom dishes. Serve chilled at 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short rest in the glass can help the aromas open up.
Producer
Founded in 1729, Ruinart is the oldest established Champagne house, and it remains one of the most respected names in the region. Based in Reims, the house is celebrated for its Chardonnay-driven style and its commitment to elegance and precision. Dom Ruinart represents the pinnacle of its craftsmanship and is widely regarded as one of the house’s most distinguished expressions.
