Description

Dom Ruinart Rosé 1990 is a rare prestige cuvée from one of Champagne’s most historic houses, offering an elegant expression of aged Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Crafted only in exceptional years, it combines finesse, depth and remarkable maturity, making it a collector’s bottle as much as a luxury Champagne.

Tasting Notes
The wine typically shows a refined salmon-pink to copper-tinged hue with a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose, expect layered aromas of dried rose petals, citrus peel, red berries, brioche and subtle toasted notes, with tertiary hints developing from long aging. On the palate, Dom Ruinart Rosé 1990 is likely to be silky and beautifully textured, balancing mature fruit, chalky minerality and nutty complexity with the freshness that defines great Champagne. The finish is long and nuanced, and the wine should still offer impressive drinking, though it is now in a mature phase where complexity is more important than primary fruit.

Production
Produced in Champagne, where Ruinart sources fruit from prized chalky terroirs, this cuvée is built around Chardonnay with a measured contribution of Pinot Noir for color and structure. As a vintage prestige Champagne, it is made only from the best parcels and the harvest is typically carried out by hand, followed by careful pressing and traditional vinification in bottle, allowing extended lees aging to build depth and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, truffle risotto, salmon tartare, or even delicate poultry with creamy sauces. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C, and consider brief decanting only if the bottle shows significant age and reduction, though this is not always necessary for mature Champagne.

Producer
Ruinart, founded in 1729, is widely recognized as the oldest established Champagne house. Based in Reims, it has built its reputation on Chardonnay-led elegance and a strong identity rooted in freshness, purity and finesse, with Dom Ruinart representing the house’s most prestigious expression and one of Champagne’s benchmark luxury cuvées.
