Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Chardonnay shows a rich, luminous golden hue. The nose is layered and inviting, with aromas of orange blossom, lime zest, honeyed fruit, mandarin, and a hint of nutmeg, lifted by subtle oak influence. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rounded, with a creamy mouthfeel balanced by vivid acidity. Notes of citrus cream, ripe stone fruit, and a distinct mineral edge lead into a medium-long finish marked by gentle oak and a touch of fresh butter. It has the structure to develop nicely over the next few years, though it is already expressive and enjoyable now.

Production
The grapes come from Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, a region prized for its cool climate, long growing season, and mineral-driven Chardonnays. De Loach works with vineyards farmed under organic and biodynamic principles, emphasizing healthy soils and a clear sense of place. Winemaking begins with whole-cluster pressing and spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. A blend of stainless steel and French oak is used to shape the final cuvée, with part of the wine undergoing malolactic fermentation for added softness and complexity. The wine is then aged on fine lees with regular bâtonnage for ten months, followed by a total of around fourteen months in barrel to build texture, depth, and layers of citrus cream and subtle oak.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs especially well with flavorful fish, roast chicken, shellfish, and mushroom risotto. Serve it lightly chilled at around 10–12°C; decanting is not necessary, though a short aeration can help open up its aromatic detail.
