Description

D'Araprì Rosé Brut Metodo Classico is a refined sparkling rosé from Apulia that showcases Southern Italy’s flair for vibrant, characterful wines. Crafted using the traditional method, it combines local Montepulciano with elegant Pinot Nero to deliver a rosé that is both expressive and gastronomic. This non-vintage cuvée stands out for its delicate onion-skin hue, firm structure, and impressive longevity in bottle, reflecting the house’s pioneering work with high-quality sparkling wines in Puglia.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this rosé shows a pale, bright pink color with classic onion-skin reflections and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose opens with red berry notes of wild strawberry and raspberry, followed by hints of pomegranate, citrus zest, and delicate floral tones, underpinned by subtle brioche and yeasty complexity from its time on the lees. On the palate, the wine is dry, lively, and well-structured, offering a strong, savory backbone that sets it apart from many lighter rosés. Fresh red fruit flavors are layered with blood orange, a touch of spice, and a gentle mineral streak, all framed by vibrant acidity and a creamy mousse. The finish is long and clean, with lingering notes of red currant and baked bread. Thanks to its traditional-method production and solid structure, this Rosé Brut has good aging potential for a few years in bottle, gaining additional complexity and nuance over time.

Production
The grapes for D'Araprì Rosé Brut Metodo Classico are sourced from vineyards in Apulia, where the warm Southern Italian climate is tempered by coastal breezes and calcareous soils, giving the fruit both ripeness and freshness. Montepulciano contributes color, body, and southern intensity, while Pinot Nero adds finesse and aromatic lift. Grapes are harvested by hand at carefully selected ripeness levels to preserve acidity and delicate aromatics. After gentle pressing and fermentation of the base wines, the cuvée is assembled and bottled for the secondary fermentation following the metodo classico (traditional method). The wine then ages on its lees for an extended period, developing its fine bubbles, creamy texture, and subtle autolytic notes before disgorgement and a measured dosage to maintain a crisp, Brut style.

Food & Serving
This rosé sparkling wine is a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with antipasti, charcuterie, and soft to semi-aged cheeses, as well as seafood dishes such as tuna tartare, salmon carpaccio, shellfish, and grilled prawns. It also works well with Mediterranean vegetable dishes, tomato-based appetizers, and light white-meat or poultry preparations. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F) to highlight its freshness and fine mousse. A brief, gentle aeration in the glass is sufficient; extended decanting is not necessary, but opening the bottle a few minutes before serving allows the aromas to fully express themselves.

Producer
D'Araprì is one of the pioneering producers of metodo classico sparkling wines in Apulia, founded by three friends—D’Amico, Rapini, and Priore—whose initials form the winery’s name. At a time when Puglia was better known for robust still reds, D'Araprì set out to prove that the region’s terroir could also yield elegant, traditional-method sparklers with real personality. Working primarily with indigenous varieties alongside classic international grapes, the estate has earned a reputation as a reference point for quality sparkling wine in Southern Italy. Their wines regularly attract attention from critics and enthusiasts alike for their distinctive Southern character combined with the finesse and craftsmanship of top-class metodo classico production.
