Tasting Notes
Deep garnet-purple in the glass, this wine opens with a vivid and layered aromatic profile of redcurrant, kirsch, boysenberry, wild blueberry, and blackcurrant, lifted by floral notes of red rose and framed by iron ore, pencil shavings, crushed rocks, cardamom, tobacco, and dark chocolate. The bouquet evolves beautifully with air, gaining more perfume and complexity over time. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet remarkably refined, with striking purity of fruit, polished tannins, and a mineral core that gives the wine tension and energy. The finish is long, bright, and precise, with enough structure to reward extended cellaring; while it is already captivating, it should age gracefully for decades and may continue to impress for 20–30 years or more.

Production
Maya Dalla Valle comes from a highly regarded section of the estate vineyard in Napa Valley’s eastern foothills, above the Oakville floor and below Pritchard Hill, where iron-rich soils contribute to the wine’s distinctive mineral edge and depth. The blend is typically around two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Cabernet Franc, selected from the best plots on the property. Harvesting is done with a focus on quality and site expression, and the wine is vinified to preserve purity, structure, and the layered character of the estate fruit.

Food & Serving
This wine is a natural match for premium dishes such as dry-aged ribeye, roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, or truffle-scented mushroom dishes. It also works beautifully with rich braises and hard aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.

Dalla Valle Vineyards was founded in 1986 by Naoko Dalla Valle and is now led by Maya Dalla Valle, who grew up with the estate and trained at some of the world’s most respected wine estates, including Ornellaia, Pétrus, and Château Latour. The winery has become one of Napa Valley’s most iconic names, especially for its limited-production flagship Maya bottling, which has earned multiple perfect 100-point scores from Robert Parker and a loyal global following. With production of only a few hundred cases per year, Dalla Valle stands as a benchmark for collectible Cabernet-based wines from California.
