Clos la Madeleine is a small, steeply sloped vineyard planted on limestone and clay-limestone soils on the Saint-Émilion plateau—an exceptional terroir that naturally delivers freshness and minerality. The blend is typically dominated by Merlot with a supporting share of Cabernet Franc, both picked by hand at optimal ripeness in small, selective harvests. In the cellar, gentle extraction methods are used—cold soaks and temperature-controlled fermentations in tank or small vats—to preserve fruit purity and terroir expression. The wine is then matured in French oak barrels (a mix of new and seasoned wood) for around 12–18 months, allowing it to gain texture, complexity, and subtle spice without overwhelming the bright fruit and limestone-driven finesse.
