Tasting Notes
With age, the wine is likely to show a brick-tinged garnet color, reflecting its maturity. The nose should be layered and savoury, with aromas of dried blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco, leather, graphite, and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, expect a medium-bodied, Bordeaux-classic profile with resolved tannins, fresh acidity, and flavors of dark berries, dried herbs, and forest floor. At this stage, the wine is best enjoyed for its complexity and tertiary character rather than power, though well-stored bottles may still offer graceful life ahead.

Production
Produced in Saint-Julien, in the heart of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Clos du Marquis benefits from gravelly soils that favor Cabernet Sauvignon and encourage excellent drainage. The wine is made from parcels associated with the broader Léoville Las Cases estate, and harvesting is typically done by hand to ensure selection of ripe fruit. Traditional Bordeaux vinification is used, with fermentation and aging in oak to preserve structure, depth, and the wine’s distinct sense of place.

Food & Serving
This mature Bordeaux pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if the bottle is in good condition, to help the bouquet open and sediment settle.
