Description

Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2005 in magnum format is a standout Saint-Émilion wine from one of Bordeaux’s most individual and highly regarded estates. Made by François Mitjavile, this vintage is celebrated for its rare depth, opulence, and precision, and it earned an outstanding 98 points from Robert Parker.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a dense ruby-purple color that hints at its concentration. The nose is immediately seductive, with layers of sweet blackcurrants, jammy cherries, licorice, and warm spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, combining power with remarkably velvety tannins and a long, resonant finish. The 2005 vintage has the structure to age gracefully for decades, though the magnum format gives it especially strong potential for slow, elegant evolution over time.

Production
Produced in Saint-Émilion on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Château Tertre Roteboeuf benefits from a prized terroir known for producing deeply expressive, richly layered wines. The estate is closely associated with François Mitjavile’s hands-on, low-intervention philosophy, which focuses on meticulous vineyard work and careful vinification to preserve purity, texture, and concentration.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, and truffle-infused dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant several hours in advance if opening young relative to its age, especially to allow the aromatics and tannins to fully unfold.

Producer
Château Tertre Roteboeuf is one of Saint-Émilion’s most distinctive estates, long admired for its deeply personal style and consistently exceptional quality. Under François Mitjavile, the domaine has earned a reputation for producing wines of remarkable sensuality, longevity, and character, with several vintages among the region’s most celebrated.
