Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep golden color with shimmering amber reflections, hinting at both concentration and maturity. The bouquet is intense and layered, unfolding with aromas of honey, candied apricot, peach, pineapple, orange peel, vanilla, and a delicate toasted almond nuance. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and silky, with concentrated sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity that keeps everything lifted and precise. Ripe tropical fruit, honey, and caramelised citrus mingle with subtle spice and well-integrated oak, leading to an exceptionally long, fresh, and harmonious finish. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, capable of developing even greater complexity over many years in the cellar.

Production
Château Rieussec lies in the Sauternes appellation, where the gravelly and clay-limestone soils, combined with morning mists from the Ciron River, create ideal conditions for noble rot (botrytis cinerea). The grapes are typically harvested by hand in several selective passes to pick only the perfectly botrytised berries, ensuring maximum concentration and purity. Fermentation and maturation take place in oak barrels, which add structure, spice, and subtle vanilla tones to the finished wine.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, to preserve the wine’s freshness and aromatic precision. It pairs beautifully with foie gras, blue cheeses such as Roquefort, fruit-based desserts, tarte Tatin, or simply enjoyed on its own as a contemplative, after-dinner wine. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short period in the glass can help the bouquet open further.
