Description

Château Lagrange Saint-Julien 3. Cru 2022 is a polished expression of one of Bordeaux’s historic Classified Growths, offering the pedigree and consistency associated with the 1855 classification. From its carefully positioned vineyards in Saint-Julien, this wine combines Cabernet-driven precision with the depth and finesse that have made Château Lagrange a benchmark in the Médoc.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, concentrated ruby color, reflecting the quality and small size of the 2022 harvest. The nose is bright and layered, with blackcurrant, sour cherry, and a subtle hint of licorice, lifted by a refined peppery note. On the palate, the wine is densely structured yet supple, with Cabernet Sauvignon bringing length, focus, and firmness, while Merlot adds roundness and Petit Verdot contributes spice and depth. The finish is elegant and harmonious, supported by fresh acidity and polished tannins. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and it should develop beautifully over many years in bottle.

Production
Château Lagrange’s vineyards in Saint-Julien are planted across two gentle rises with both north- and south-facing slopes, where gravelly, stony soils over clay and limestone provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. The temperate maritime climate helps preserve freshness and balance, even in warmer vintages. In 2022, extreme heat was offset by cool nights, producing small, ripe, highly concentrated grapes with vibrant acidity, and only 40% of the harvest was selected for the Grand Vin. Long barrel aging, including a significant proportion of new oak, has shaped the wine’s focus and complexity.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or game dishes, as well as mushroom-based recipes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and structure to खुल fully open.

Producer
Château Lagrange is one of Saint-Julien’s most respected estates and has held 3rd Growth status since the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, a distinction that underscores its long-standing quality and reputation. The château is known for producing classically styled Médoc wines with elegance, structure, and impressive aging potential. Over the years, it has earned a strong place among Bordeaux collectors for the consistency and refinement of its Grand Vin.
