Tasting Notes
The 2008 vintage shows a dense, deep purple core with remarkable concentration. On the nose, it is beautifully layered with notes of blueberries, blackcurrants, jammy raspberries, creosote, and a hint of asphalt, giving it both power and complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and savory, with sweet, polished tannins and a fleshy, velvety texture that carries into a long, noble finish. It is already impressive, but its structure and balance suggest excellent aging potential for three decades or more.

Production
Château Haut-Brion’s vineyards lie in Pessac, just outside Bordeaux, on gravelly terroir that has long been prized for producing wines of finesse and longevity. The estate works with hand-harvested fruit, selecting grapes according to ripeness before careful sorting and destemming. Fermentation begins after the grapes are placed in vats and the temperature is gradually increased to coax out the best expression of the vintage. The finest lots are then matured in new oak barrels for 20 to 24 months, allowing the wine to develop complexity, texture, and elegance.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal wine for rich, refined dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, braised short ribs, duck, or game birds, as well as truffle-based preparations and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for several hours is recommended if drinking young to help the aromas open up and the structure soften.

Château Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux’s most iconic estates, with a history dating back to 1525, when Jean de Pontac received the first vineyard land through marriage. It became the first Bordeaux wine to be sold under its château name and has remained one of the region’s great reference points ever since. After being revived in the modern era by Clarence Dillon in 1935, the estate continues under the stewardship of the Dillon family, with Prince Robert of Luxembourg representing the fourth generation. Haut-Brion is celebrated worldwide for its consistency, longevity, and status among the elite first-growth estates of Bordeaux.
