Description

Château Haut-Blanville’s Grés de Montpellier Murmures 2013 is a beautifully crafted red from one of Languedoc’s most thoughtful producers. Made from carefully selected parcels and aged with patience in oak, it reflects the depth and character of the Grés de Montpellier appellation while staying true to a hands-on, terroir-driven philosophy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this vintage shows the darker, mature profile you’d expect from a wine that has spent 36 months in barrel. Aromas of forest floor, leather, coffee, and toasted oak unfold gradually, supported by a savoury, earthy complexity. On the palate, it is layered and expressive, with a refined, rounded texture and well-integrated oak nuances. The wine’s development suggests good maturity now, while still retaining enough structure to hold a little longer if stored well.

Production
The grapes come from 70 hectares spread across five distinct terroirs within the Grés de Montpellier appellation, an area known for its varied soils and strong Mediterranean identity. Château Haut-Blanville works organically and with great attention to biodiversity, harvesting by hand and vinifying each parcel separately to preserve the character of each site. The wine is then matured for 36 months in a mix of new and older oak barrels, adding depth, complexity, and gentle spice.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled steak, roast or grilled duck, and other richly flavoured meat dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended to let the aromas open fully and the oak integrate more smoothly.

Producer
Château Haut-Blanville was founded in 1955 by Béatrice and Bernard Nivollet, who built the estate from the ground up near Montpellier. Today, the winery is recognised for showcasing the remarkable diversity of Languedoc terroirs through organic, parcel-based winemaking. Its meticulous approach and commitment to responsible viticulture have made it highly regarded among lovers of premium southern French wines.
