Description
Château Durfort-Vivens Margaux 2019 is a beautifully poised Second Growth Bordeaux that captures the finesse and elegance for which Margaux is famous. Made from biodynamically farmed grapes, it reflects both the estate’s deep respect for its terroir and the precision of modern winemaking in a historic appellation.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a brilliant deep ruby color. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe black cherries, blackcurrant and plum framed by violet, cedar, graphite, and subtle hints of cocoa and spice.
The palate is refined and beautifully balanced, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and concentrated dark fruit that creates a luxurious, seamless texture. The finish is long and persistent, leaving notes of dark chocolate, mocha, and a cool mineral edge. While already approachable for its pure fruit, it has the structure and depth to age gracefully for 20–30 years.
Production
This wine comes from Margaux in Bordeaux, where gravelly soils and the tempering influence of the nearby Gironde help Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc achieve elegance, freshness, and aromatic complexity. The grapes are biodynamically cultivated and carefully selected to preserve purity and expression of place, then vinified with precision to build structure while maintaining the estate’s signature finesse.
Food & Serving
A natural partner for roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes, this wine also works beautifully with truffle-infused recipes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the aromas and texture to fully unfold.
