Château du Cray’s Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Rouge 2022 is a classically styled Pinot Noir that balances freshness, structure, and Burgundy’s signature finesse. Sourced from the sunlit slopes west of the Côte de Beaune, it reflects a historic hillside terroir known for producing wines with both edge and elegance.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful ruby-red color with subtle purple reflections. The nose opens with ripe red berries, especially cherry and strawberry, before unfolding into notes of blackcurrant, liquorice, and a gentle spice that adds depth and complexity. On the palate, it is supple and approachable, with a well-proportioned structure that sits comfortably between power and delicacy. The wine is not overly extracted, nor is it too light, making it an inviting Pinot Noir that can be enjoyed now, though it should also hold nicely over the next few years as its aromatic complexity develops.

Production
The grapes come from the steep limestone- and marl-rich slopes of the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, where the cooler position west of the main Côte helps preserve freshness while still allowing full ripening. The fruit is hand-harvested, then fermented in stainless steel tanks before being matured for 10 to 12 months in Burgundian oak barrels, including 20% new oak, to add subtle texture and nuance without overpowering the wine’s fruit.

This is a versatile Pinot Noir that pairs beautifully with hearty French country cooking, roasted poultry, mushroom dishes, grilled salmon, and pork with herbs or light sauces. Serve it slightly cool, around 14–16°C, and consider a brief decant if opening young to help the aromas open up.
