Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, almost inky black-red color that signals concentration and depth. The nose is layered and elegant, with blackcurrant, blueberry, violet, cedar, graphite, and subtle spice and mineral tones. On the palate, it is rich and structured, yet beautifully polished, with silky tannins, impressive balance, and a long, persistent finish marked by freshness and detail. This is a wine built for the cellar and should continue to gain complexity over the coming decades.

Production
Produced in Saint-Estèphe on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Cos d’Estournel benefits from gravelly, well-draining terroir that helps Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends achieve power, structure, and aromatic lift. The 2016 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc was crafted to emphasize purity, precision, and harmony, with careful vineyard selection and meticulous vinification supporting the wine’s elegant concentration.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for fine cuts of beef, lamb, venison, duck breast, and richly flavored dishes with mushrooms or truffle. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if opening young to allow the wine to fully unfold and show its aromatic complexity.
