Description
Château Corbin is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Émilion, with origins dating back to the 15th century. This 2018 vintage brings together the estate’s historic character and the refinement of modern winemaking, offering a classic Bordeaux red with depth, balance, and a long, elegant finish.
Tasting Notes
Deeply colored and expressive, Château Corbin 2018 opens with a generous bouquet of red and black fruits, layered with subtle oak spice and a refined mineral edge. On the palate, it is intense, full-bodied, and rounded, with beautifully integrated tannins and the kind of balance that gives the wine both immediate charm and real presence.
The finish is long and polished, leaving a lasting impression of ripe fruit and structure. While already approachable, this wine should also reward further cellaring, gaining additional complexity over the next several years.
Production
The estate’s vineyards are harvested by hand parcel by parcel, with the grapes first sorted in the vineyard and then sorted twice more on arrival at the winery. After destemming, the fruit is vinified in temperature-controlled concrete tanks by plot, followed by 3 to 4 weeks of skin maceration. Aging takes place in carefully selected French oak barrels, with racking once or twice during maturation, before the wine is bottled after 16 to 17 months with filtration.
Food & Serving
A natural match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, and rich mushroom dishes, Château Corbin also pairs well with aged cheeses and classic Bordeaux-style cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
Producer
Château Corbin is a historic Saint-Émilion estate, with foundations reaching back to the 1400s and a legendary past tied to the Black Prince. The property was acquired by the current family’s grandparents in 1924, and since 1999 it has been led by Anabelle Cruse-Bardinet, a Bordeaux-trained oenologist and the family’s fourth generation at the helm. Under her direction, the château continues to uphold its reputation as a respected name in the region.
