Description

Champagne Marguet Shaman Grand Cru Brut Nature 2022 is a striking expression of Benoît Marguet’s biodynamic philosophy, bringing together fruit from some of Montagne de Reims’ most prestigious Grand Cru parcels. With its low-intervention winemaking, mineral precision, and near-zero dosage style, it captures both the character of the terroir and the purity of the vintage in a distinctly personal signature cuvée.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Shaman 22 shows a refined, luminous profile with fine bubbles and a crisp, elegant mousse. Aromatically, it opens with citrus zest, white flowers, and red apple, followed by deeper nuances of salted butter, toast, and a subtle hazelnut note. On the palate, the wine is taut yet energetic, combining bright citrus, herbs, a touch of smoke, and chalky minerality. The texture feels almost weightless, but the intensity is undeniable, finishing dry, focused, and vibrantly persistent. This is a Champagne with strong aging potential, where its structure and mineral backbone suggest it will develop additional complexity over time.

Production
Shaman 22 is built from approximately 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay sourced from biodynamically farmed Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay and Bouzy. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with a highly natural approach: spontaneous fermentation in used barriques, no added yeasts, enzymes, or fining agents, and no filtration or cold treatment. The result is a Champagne that reflects both the precision of its origins and the rhythm of the vintage.

Food & Serving
This Brut Nature Champagne is a superb match for shellfish, oysters, sashimi, roast chicken, and dishes with fine, savory textures, especially where freshness and salinity are welcome. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and consider a short decant if you want to allow the wine’s layered aromatics to open more fully.

Producer
Champagne Marguet is one of Champagne’s most respected biodynamic producers, led by Benoît Marguet, whose work in the Montagne de Reims has helped define a more transparent, terroir-driven style of Champagne. The house is known for its uncompromising natural vinification, deep commitment to vineyard vitality, and expressive Grand Cru cuvées that have earned strong recognition among lovers of artisan Champagne.

A champagne with wow factor. The producer is known for its nature-oriented work and for being one of the most terroir-driven growers in Champagne; Marguet sees himself not only as a biodynamic producer but also calls himself a Druid. Of course, there are some mystical elements in the prestige cuvée Schaman. from the Grand Cru villages of Ambonnay and Bouzy. Powerful yet precise, with red apples, citrus, red berries, chalky minerality
