Description

Champagne De Venoge Genesis Code 1 Blanc de Blancs is a prestige non-vintage Brut crafted exclusively from Chardonnay, presented in De Venoge’s iconic decanter-shaped bottle and gift box. This cuvée fuses the house’s long-standing tradition with a distinctly modern expression, offering crystalline purity, fine-boned elegance and striking visual appeal. As a pure Blanc de Blancs from Champagne, it showcases the region’s noble Chardonnay at its most refined, echoing nearly two centuries of De Venoge savoir-faire.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Genesis Code 1 Blanc de Blancs shimmers a pale, luminous gold with hints of green at the rim, crowned by a very fine, persistent mousse. The nose is delicate yet expressive, opening with white blossom, acacia and hawthorn, followed by freshly grated lemon zest, subtle spice and a chalky, marine-tinged minerality. On the palate, this is a taut, elegant Brut with creamy but ultra-fine bubbles that glide across the tongue. Citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit are layered with crisp green apple, hints of white peach and a touch of brioche, all framed by a precise, saline backbone. The finish is long, airy and delicately mineral, leaving impressions of flowers and citrus peel. Enjoy it now for its vibrancy and finesse, or cellar for 3–7 years to gain additional complexity, creamier texture and more pronounced pastry and hazelnut nuances.

Production
Genesis Code 1 Blanc de Blancs is sourced from carefully selected Chardonnay parcels within Champagne, where cool climates, chalk and limestone-rich soils give the wine its tension, finesse and marked minerality. Grapes are harvested by hand to preserve freshness and allow strict selection of only the healthiest clusters. After gentle pressing, the base wines are vinified in stainless steel to retain aromatic purity, then blended across several vintages to achieve the house’s signature balance. Traditional secondary fermentation in bottle, extended lees aging and meticulous dosage result in a refined Brut style that is both vibrant and texturally silken.

Food & Serving
This Blanc de Blancs is a natural match for refined cuisine: think oysters, scallop carpaccio, sashimi, poached turbot, grilled langoustines or delicate fish dishes with citrus or beurre blanc. It also pairs beautifully with fine, subtle cheeses such as young goat’s cheese, brie or triple-cream styles, and makes an elegant aperitif on its own. Serve well-chilled at 8–10°C (46–50°F); a brief 10–15 minute rest in the glass after pouring will allow the aromas to fully unfold. Decanting is not required, but pouring into good-quality, tulip-shaped Champagne stems will best highlight its aromatics and mousse.

Producer
Founded nearly 200 years ago by Swiss-born Henri-Marc de Venoge, Maison De Venoge is one of Champagne’s historic houses, renowned for its refined, vinous cuvées and distinctive aesthetic. Based in Épernay, the house has long championed a style that marries vibrant fruit with elegance and structure, earning a loyal following among collectors and connoisseurs worldwide. The famous blue ribbon—“cordon bleu”—on the label pays homage both to the Venoge river, from which the family takes its name, and to the noble sashes once worn by the European aristocracy. De Venoge is also celebrated for its decanter-shaped bottles used for select prestige cuvées, underlining the house’s commitment not only to craftsmanship in the cellar but also to timeless, luxurious presentation.
