Celler Bartolomé’s Primitiu de Bellmunt 2019 is an expressive Priorat red that combines power with remarkable finesse. Hand-harvested fruit, careful temperature-controlled vinification, and a short period in barrel before fermentation give the wine its layered character, polished tannins, and distinctive sense of place.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense cherry-red color. The nose is elegant and expressive, with creamy oak, chocolate, and caramel leading the way, followed by subtle mineral notes and aromas of dark, ripe fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, yet nicely balanced by well-integrated tannins. The wine’s combination of richness and minerality suggests excellent development potential, with the structure to age gracefully over the coming years.

Production
The grapes are cultivated with care and sensitivity in Priorat, a region known for its steep slopes and mineral-rich soils that often bring depth and tension to the wines. Harvesting is done by hand to preserve fruit quality, and vinification takes place at carefully controlled temperatures of 26–28°C. The wine then spends 18 days in barrels before fermentation, helping to build complexity and refine the final style.

This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, slow-cooked beef, game, or hearty dishes with mushrooms and herbs. It also works well with aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1 hour if you want to open up the aromas and soften the structure.
