Castello di Nipozzano Mormoreto 2022 is one of Frescobaldi’s most distinguished Tuscan reds, drawn from the historic Mormoreto vineyard and produced only in the finest vintages. First released from the 1983 harvest, it has long stood out for its depth, elegance, and strong sense of place, with Sangiovese now adding extra finesse to the estate’s classic Bordeaux varieties.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Mormoreto 2022 shows the richness and concentration expected of a top-tier Tuscan red, with a dark, polished colour that hints at its structure and intensity. The nose is layered and refined, with ripe black fruit, subtle spice, and the complexity that comes from mature vines and carefully selected parcels. On the palate, the wine is deep and generous, yet beautifully balanced by fresh acidity and finely woven tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Sangiovese come together in a precise, terroir-driven style that promises excellent ageing potential over many years, gaining even more nuance and harmony with time in bottle.

Production
Mormoreto comes from the Mormoreto vineyard at Castello di Nipozzano, planted in 1976 on one of the estate’s most prized sites in Tuscany. The vineyard’s long-established vines and favorable growing conditions allow for selective harvesting, with production reserved for the most successful vintages only. Since 2013, Sangiovese has played an increasingly important role in the blend, enhancing the elegance and regional identity of the Cabernet-led structure.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for refined Tuscan dishes, especially roast lamb, grilled beef, game, truffle pasta, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to allow the aromas and structure to open fully, and consider decanting for at least an hour if drinking young, especially to soften the tannins and reveal the wine’s full complexity.
