Castello di Collemassari’s Montecucco Rosso Riserva is a compelling Tuscan red from one of the region’s most quietly exciting appellations. Sitting in the shadow of Brunello di Montalcino, Montecucco delivers remarkable quality at a far more approachable price, and this Riserva shows exactly why it deserves attention.

Production
The vines are planted at around 300 meters above sea level, where a gentle breeze helps moderate the climate and preserve freshness in the grapes. The blend is composed of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Ciliegiolo, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and after fermentation the wine matures for 18 months in a combination of large and small oak barrels to build complexity without losing balance.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for Tuscan-style dishes, grilled meats, roast lamb, game, and rich pasta with tomato-based sauces. Serve at 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about an hour if the wine is enjoyed young to let the aromas and texture open fully.
