Description

Cantillon Lambic Kriek is a benchmark for traditional Belgian fruit beer, blending spontaneously fermented lambic with whole sour cherries for a layered, unmistakably classic character. Brewed in Brussels by one of the world’s most respected lambic producers, it showcases both the depth of old-world sour beer craftsmanship and the vibrant freshness of real fruit.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it pours a brilliant ruby-red to deep cherry hue, often with a lively, natural haze and a delicate pink head. The aroma is beautifully expressive, with tart cherries leading the way, followed by notes of almond, red berries, oak, wild yeast, and subtle earthy funk from the lambic base. The palate is crisp, dry, and intensely refreshing, balancing mouthwatering cherry acidity with a gentle fruit sweetness, firm minerality, and Cantillon’s signature rustic sourness. A touch of tannin and a dry, vinous finish give it serious structure, making it both immediately enjoyable and capable of developing additional nuance over time.

Production
Cantillon is brewed in Brussels using spontaneously fermented lambic, a method that relies on ambient wild yeasts and bacteria to create its distinctive character. The beer is then aged with sour cherries, traditionally allowing the fruit to infuse the lambic naturally and add color, aroma, and bright acidity. This slow, traditional process reflects the unique terroir of Brussels and the surrounding Senne valley.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, to highlight its freshness and complexity. It pairs especially well with rich cheeses, duck, charcuterie, fruit desserts, and dishes with sweet-and-sour elements; decanting is generally not necessary, though allowing the beer a few minutes in the glass can help its aromas open up.

Producer
Brasserie Cantillon is one of Brussels’ most iconic producers and a global reference point for traditional lambic and gueuze. Family-run for generations, the brewery has played a major role in preserving spontaneous fermentation methods at a time when they were disappearing, and it remains celebrated for its uncompromising commitment to authenticity and craft.
