Tasting Notes
Expect a wine with a bright, elegant ruby-garnet color and the classic depth associated with Brunello. The nose opens with red cherry, wild berries, dried flowers, and subtle hints of spice, leather, and earthy minerality. On the palate, it is structured yet polished, with fresh acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a long, savory finish that speaks to both balance and complexity. This is a Brunello built for cellaring, with the potential to develop beautifully over time. With age, the fruit will soften and give way to more layered notes of tobacco, truffle, dried herbs, and forest floor.

Production
The estate’s vineyards are located in two distinct areas of Montalcino: Canalicchio di Sopra and Le Gode di Montosoli. These sites offer different exposures and soil compositions, producing varying expressions of Sangiovese that are carefully blended in the cellar. The result is a wine shaped by nuanced terroir, with harvesting and vinification guided by a philosophy that unites traditional craftsmanship, modern technology, and respect for the land.

Food & Serving
Ideal with rich Tuscan dishes such as bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised beef, game, roasted lamb, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromas and structure to open fully.

Azienda Agricola Canalicchio di Sopra was founded in 1962 by Primo Pacenti and has remained a family estate for three generations. Based in the northern section of Montalcino, the producer is well regarded for its thoughtful, terroir-driven Brunello and its commitment to blending tradition with innovation. The estate’s vineyards and olive groves reflect a long-standing dedication to quality and the heritage of the region.
