Production
The grapes for Lagrein Riserva Lareith come from carefully selected vineyards around Caldaro (Kaltern) in Trentino-Alto Adige, where the combination of warm days, cool nights and well-drained, gravelly and morainic soils gives Lagrein its depth and freshness. Yields are deliberately kept low, and the fruit is harvested by hand to ensure only perfectly ripe, healthy bunches make it to the winery. After a gentle crush, the must ferments on the skins in temperature-controlled tanks to extract color, aroma and tannin, with regular pump-overs for optimal structure. The wine is then aged in oak – typically a mix of barriques and larger casks – to round off the tannins, integrate the spice notes and develop the complexity that earns it the Riserva designation.

This Lagrein Riserva is a natural partner for rich, savory dishes: think braised beef, venison, wild boar, grilled lamb chops or slow-cooked ragù over polenta or fresh pasta. It also works beautifully with aged Alpine cheeses, mushroom-based dishes and charcuterie. Serve at 16–18°C to highlight both the dark fruit and the spice-driven complexity. Decanting for 30–60 minutes before serving is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the tannins to soften and the aromatics to fully open.
