Description
Ca’ del Bosco Curterfanca Chardonnay 2009 Magnum is a beautifully composed white wine that combines precision, richness, and remarkable ageing potential. From the limestone and moraine soils of Curtefranca in Lombardy, it shows the hallmarks of Ca’ del Bosco’s meticulous craftsmanship and the added elegance that comes from magnum ageing. The 2009 vintage has now developed real complexity, while still retaining the energy and structure that make this wine so compelling.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it appears golden straw in colour with mature, luminous reflections. The nose is layered and expressive, offering ripe pear, yellow apple, citrus peel, butter, toasted nuts, vanilla, and a subtle mineral note that keeps everything lifted and refined.
The palate is full-bodied and harmonious, with creamy texture, well-integrated acidity, and a fine balance between richness and freshness. Oak ageing adds depth and a gentle spice, while the long finish lingers with notes of nuts, butter, and a discreet salinity. Drinking well now, it still has the structure to evolve gracefully for further years, especially in magnum format.
Production
The grapes come from Ca’ del Bosco’s vineyards in Curtefranca/Franciacorta, where calcareous and morainic soils provide excellent drainage and contribute tension, minerality, and finesse. The 2009 vintage was warm yet balanced, allowing the Chardonnay to reach full ripeness without losing its natural acidity. Fermentation and ageing take place in oak barrels, followed by extended bottle ageing that is further enhanced by the magnum format, helping the wine develop slowly and harmoniously.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast chicken, veal, lobster, scallops, creamy pasta dishes, and mature soft cheeses. Serve it at 11–13 °C to bring out its aromatic detail and textural depth. Decanting is not essential, but a short decant can help open the wine if served relatively young; today, gentle aeration may also enhance its mature bouquet.

Ca’ del Bosco is one of Lombardy’s most respected producers, renowned for its uncompromising standards and pioneering role in elevating quality in both Franciacorta and Curtefranca.
