Tasting Notes
In the glass, this vintage Port typically shows a deep ruby-garnet color with youthful concentration. The nose is layered with ripe dark fruit, plum, blackberry, and hints of spice, cocoa, and dried florals, developing additional complexity as it opens. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with firm tannins balanced by the natural sweetness of ripe fruit. Expect flavors of black cherry, cassis, dark chocolate, and subtle mineral notes from the Douro terroir. While already appealing, it has the structure to age gracefully for many years, gaining finesse and complexity over time.

Production
Burmester Vintage Porto Quintas Arn 2012 is made from a traditional blend of Douro grape varieties grown on steep vineyard slopes at elevations of up to 600 meters. The soils are stony and granite-based, helping to keep yields low and concentrate flavor. After careful destemming and fermentation, grape spirit is added to fortify the wine, which is then matured in wooden casks before bottling between the second and third year after harvest.

Food & Serving
This vintage Port is a natural match for rich chocolate desserts, especially chocolate mousse or cakes served with red berry sauce. It also pairs beautifully with blue cheese and firm aged cheeses, and can be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative after-dinner wine or alongside a fine cigar. Serve slightly cool, around 16-18°C, and consider decanting to remove any sediment and allow the wine to open fully.

Burmester was founded in 1730 by Henry Burmester and John Nash as a grain trading company in London before moving to Vila Nova de Gaia in 1750 to focus on Port export. The house has long been associated with strong commercial ties to Britain and a respected position in the Port trade, with a legacy that still carries weight today. Its history and reputation make Burmester a recognizable name for classic Douro and Port wines.
