Description

Burmester Vintage Porto 2015 is a classic fortified wine from one of Porto’s historic houses, offering the depth, power, and elegance collectors look for in a great Vintage Port. Made from traditional Douro grape varieties and aged before bottling in the second to third year after harvest, it reflects both the strength of the 2015 vintage and Burmester’s long-standing Port-making heritage dating back to the 18th century.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour with the intensity and youthful concentration typical of Vintage Port. The nose is expected to show rich dark fruit, black cherry, plum, and blackberry, layered with floral hints, spice, and a subtle mineral edge from the granite-rich Douro slopes. On the palate it is full-bodied, plush, and structured, with ripe fruit, firm tannins, and the warming lift of spirit adding power and length. Vintage Port of this calibre has excellent aging potential, and the wine will reward patience with additional complexity over many years in bottle.

Production
This Vintage Porto is made from traditional Douro grape varieties grown on steep vineyard slopes rising up to 600 metres above sea level, where rocky granite soils help limit yields and concentrate flavour. After fermentation, grape spirit is added to fortify the wine, preserving sweetness and structure before it is aged in wooden casks and bottled between the second and third year after harvest.

Food & Serving
Serve with rich chocolate desserts, blue cheese, or mature hard cheeses, where the wine’s sweetness and depth will balance intense flavours beautifully. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative after-dinner wine, ideally served slightly cool at around 16–18°C; decanting is recommended, especially to remove sediment and let the wine open up before serving.

Producer
Burmester is one of the historic names of Port wine, founded in London in 1730 by Henry Burmester and John Nash as Burmester & Nash before relocating to Vila Nova de Gaia in 1750. The house built its reputation through active trade with Britain and Europe, and its name remains closely tied to the commercial and cultural history of Port, with the family legacy still recognised today in both Portugal and abroad.
