Description
Bollinger La Grande Année Rosé Brut 2012 is a refined and highly expressive vintage Champagne, built on the house’s celebrated Grande Année cuvée and elevated by an additional dose of Pinot Noir from the legendary Côte aux Enfants vineyard. It combines precision, depth and a distinctly vinous character, making it one of Bollinger’s most gastronomic rosés and a true standout from the 2012 vintage.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a delicate salmon-pink hue with fine, persistent bubbles and an elegant, polished look. The nose is marked by vivid red berry aromas—think wild strawberry, raspberry and cherry—alongside hints of citrus zest, white flowers, spice and subtle pastry notes from extended aging on the lees.
The palate is layered and generous, with the richness and roundness that define Bollinger, balanced by the freshness and tension of the vintage. Pinot Noir brings body, structure and a savoury red-fruit core, while Chardonnay contributes lift and finesse. The finish is long, dry and energetic, with a graceful mineral edge. With its concentration and structure, it has excellent aging potential and can continue to evolve beautifully over many years.
Production
La Grande Année Rosé 2012 is blended from grapes sourced from 21 Grand and Premier Cru vineyards, with Pinot Noir coming mainly from Aÿ and Verzenay and Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oiry. The rosé is based on the same cuvée as La Grande Année Blanc, but with added Pinot Noir from Bollinger’s prized Côte aux Enfants parcel, a historic single vineyard known for producing exceptional Pinot Noir. The wine is crafted with Bollinger’s meticulous approach to vinification, emphasizing complexity, texture and site expression.
Food & Serving
This is a Champagne made for the table and pairs beautifully with dishes such as roast duck, quail, lobster, sashimi, grilled salmon, veal, or even dishes with red berries and subtle spice. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is generally not necessary, but allowing it a few minutes in the glass can help the aromas open fully.
