Tasting Notes
In the glass, Horcajo 2020 shows a deep, concentrated color that hints at its intensity. The nose opens with ripe blackberry and dark fruit, layered with licorice, cedar, and a subtle graphite edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, with bold but beautifully ripe tannins and a polished, elegant structure. The oak is integrated rather than dominating, adding spice and texture to the wine’s long, refined finish. Built for the cellar, it should continue to develop gracefully over the next 10 to 15 years.

Production
Horcajo 2020 comes from a single vineyard parcel in Castilla y León, where old Tempranillo vines benefit from a warm, dry growing season tempered by a cooler September that helped preserve balance and phenolic ripeness. The grapes were harvested by hand and vinified with extended skin contact to maximize color, concentration, and structure. The wine was then matured for 18 months in new French oak barrels, adding complexity, finesse, and age-worthy depth.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for robust dishes such as grilled or roasted red meats, game, and rich braised preparations. It also pairs well with mature hard cheeses and earthy mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine to open fully.
