Description
Alvina Pernot’s Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a striking expression of one of Burgundy’s most revered white-wine sites. Sourced from the prestigious Côte de Beaune, it offers the kind of precision, depth, and mineral drive that has made this tiny Grand Cru a benchmark for world-class Chardonnay.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine typically shows a brilliant pale gold colour with luminous clarity. The nose is refined and layered, often opening with white flowers, citrus peel, ripe orchard fruit, and subtle hints of hazelnut, beurre blanc, and wet stone.
On the palate, it is expected to be richly textured yet beautifully balanced, with concentrated fruit wrapped around a core of freshness and chalky minerality. The finish should be long and elegant, with the structure and depth to reward several years of cellaring.
Production
Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru sits on prized Burgundy terroir where limestone-rich soils and an ideal slope help create exceptional tension and complexity. As with the finest white Burgundies, careful vineyard work and selective harvesting are essential to preserve purity and ripeness. Vinification is typically aimed at expressing both the site’s opulence and its mineral precision, often through measured oak influence and attentive élevage.
Food & Serving
This Grand Cru pairs beautifully with lobster, langoustines, turbot, roasted chicken with cream sauce, or a fine truffle risotto. Serve chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting if the wine is young to help it open gradually in the glass.
Producer
Alvina Pernot is part of Burgundy’s celebrated new generation, carrying forward a deep family connection to some of the region’s most distinguished vineyards. The estate has gained recognition for its thoughtful, site-driven wines and for showcasing the elegance and complexity that define top-tier Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune.
