Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a pale straw-yellow color with green reflections. The nose is fresh and lively, offering citrus, green apple, white peach, lemon zest and a subtle floral nuance. The palate is linear and focused, with crisp acidity giving the wine energy and drive. The fruit feels clean and well-defined, supported by a light creamy texture and a mineral finish with lingering citrus notes. It is best enjoyed young for its vibrancy, though it can gain a little extra complexity over the next few years.

Production
Piaggione sits in Umbria on a mix of limestone and clay soils, with hilly terrain that promotes excellent drainage and significant day-to-night temperature variation. These conditions help preserve Chardonnay’s aromatic clarity and natural acidity. The 2023 vintage was cooler and more demanding, resulting in a wine with lower alcohol, higher acidity and a more taut, elegant profile. Vinification is carried out with precision, including temperature-controlled fermentation to retain primary aromas, followed by mostly stainless-steel ageing with a limited amount of oak used only to add structure and depth.

This Chardonnay works beautifully with seafood, grilled white fish, shellfish, poultry, risotto and vegetable dishes, especially those with delicate cream or citrus elements. Serve it well chilled at 9–11 °C, and decanting is not necessary.
