Production
The grapes for Berlucchi '61 Franciacorta Rosé Brut are sourced from selected vineyards in the gently rolling hills of Franciacorta in Lombardy, a region characterized by glacial morainic soils rich in minerals and well-draining gravel and sand. This terroir, combined with a temperate climate moderated by nearby Lake Iseo, allows Pinot Nero and Chardonnay to ripen slowly while preserving acidity and aromatic finesse. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure careful selection in the vineyard, with Pinot Nero often vinified partly as a rosé base wine to achieve the desired color and structure. The cuvée is produced using the traditional method (Metodo Classico): gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, followed by a secondary fermentation in bottle and an extended period resting on the lees to build texture, complexity, and a fine, persistent perlage before disgorgement and final dosage.

This Franciacorta Rosé Brut is an excellent aperitif and equally at home throughout a meal. It pairs beautifully with charcuterie, salmon carpaccio, tuna tartare, sushi, shellfish, and delicately spiced Asian dishes, as well as lighter meat preparations like veal tonnato or herb-roasted chicken. Soft and semi-hard cheeses, especially fresh goat cheese or mild alpine styles, also work well with its bright acidity. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and fine bubbles. A brief, gentle aeration in the glass is usually sufficient; decanting is not necessary, but opening the bottle a few minutes before serving will allow the aromatic profile to fully express itself.
