Benjamin Leroux’s 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges is a poised and unusually graceful take on one of Burgundy’s more robust communes. By drawing on fruit from several carefully chosen parcels near Vosne-Romanée and along the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Leroux highlights the vineyard character with clarity, finesse, and real depth.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a vivid, inviting expression of both dark and red berries, lifted by subtle spice and an elegant, refined structure. The nose combines ripe cherry, blackberry, and forest fruit with a gentle savory edge, while the palate is silky, fresh, and composed, offering a softer, more accessible interpretation of Nuits-Saint-Georges than many would expect. Despite its immediate charm, this is a wine with genuine aging potential. It is already highly enjoyable in its youth, but a few years in the cellar should bring even more harmony, complexity, and depth to the finish.

Production
The 2022 cuvée is sourced from four parcels: Aux Saint-Jacques and Aux Herbues, both bordering Vosne-Romanée; Aux Tuyaux just to the south; and Fleurières in central Nuits-Saint-Georges beside the Premier Cru strip and neighboring Les Pruliers. The grapes were entirely destemmed in 2022, resulting in a particularly supple and polished style that emphasizes purity of fruit and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for beef, especially roasted, grilled, or braised preparations, where its balance of fruit, freshness, and subtle spice can shine. Serve at around 14°C in large Burgundy glasses, and consider decanting briefly if you want to open up its aromatics in its youth.
