Castello Banfi Vigna Marrucheto 2018 is a refined Brunello di Montalcino that captures both the power and elegance of Tuscany’s most iconic wine region. Crafted by one of Montalcino’s most forward-thinking producers, it combines traditional Sangiovese character with a modern, meticulous approach that has helped define Banfi’s reputation for excellence.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red colour. The nose is sweet and perfumed, opening into a rich, fruit-driven bouquet with notes of plums and dried cherries.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and polished, with silky tannins and a harmonious, well-balanced finish. The wine has notable depth and personality, with the structure to age beautifully and develop even more complexity over time.
Production
Produced in Tuscany from Banfi’s Vigna Marrucheto estate in Montalcino, the wine reflects the area’s prized soils and ideal conditions for Sangiovese. Banfi uses careful vineyard management and advanced viticultural methods, followed by long maturation in French oak barrels of 60 and 90 hl for at least 30 months to build structure, finesse and depth.
Food & Serving
This Brunello is an excellent match for braised or roasted red meats, game, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromas and texture to open fully.
