Banfi’s Brunello di Montalcino Castello Banfi Poggio alle Mura 2018 is a beautifully structured Tuscan red that combines classic Brunello character with a polished, modern style. Crafted by one of Montalcino’s most forward-thinking producers, it reflects both the tradition of the appellation and Banfi’s long-standing commitment to precision winemaking.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour with impressive intensity. The nose opens with layered aromas of cherry, violets, cedar, cinnamon, cloves, and dark fruit, creating a complex and inviting bouquet. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet refined, with excellent balance between tannins and acidity. Its concentration and structure give it real depth, while the long, harmonious finish suggests outstanding ageing potential.

Production
Sourced from Banfi’s estate in Montalcino, the wine benefits from a carefully managed Tuscan terroir that is especially well suited to Sangiovese. Fermentation takes place in Banfi’s patented hybrid tanks, combining French oak and stainless steel, while maturation is split between large French casks and 350-litre French barriques for two years, adding complexity and polish to the finished wine.

Food & Serving
This Brunello is an excellent match for game, hearty stews, and mature cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C to allow its aromas and structure to show at their best, and consider decanting for an hour or more if serving young, to help the wine open up fully.
