Armagnac Veuve Goudoulin Bas Armagnac VSOP is a classic, beautifully matured expression from one of the region’s most respected historic houses. Crafted in the traditional way and aged in oak for at least 6–9 years, it offers impressive depth, softness, and elegance without losing the distinctive character of Bas Armagnac.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a warm amber-gold color with a polished, inviting sheen. The nose opens with ripe plum, dried fruit, and gentle vanilla, followed by subtle oak spice and a touch of rancio that hints at its traditional long ageing. On the palate, it is smooth, rounded, and well balanced, with more fruit-driven richness than heat. Notes of stewed orchard fruit, dried apricot, soft caramel, and oak come together in a supple finish. While approachable now, it has the structure and depth to remain engaging over the coming years if stored properly.

Production
Veuve Goudoulin is based in Bas Armagnac, the most prized part of the Armagnac region, where sandy, iron-rich soils help produce eaux-de-vie with finesse and aromatic complexity. The spirit is made using traditional methods and matured slowly in oak casks in the estate’s deep cellars, where many barrels are exceptionally old and used for blending with great care.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed as an after-dinner drink or alongside dark chocolate, tarte Tatin, dried fruits, or a fine cigar. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 18–20°C, in a tulip glass to concentrate the aromas. Decanting is not necessary, but a few minutes in the glass will help it open up beautifully.

Armagnac Veuve Goudoulin was founded in 1935 by Madame Jeanne Ménal Goudoulin, a regional legend with more than 20 years of experience in Armagnac production. The house has long been admired for its traditional craftsmanship, extensive cellar reserves, and rare old vintages, including bottles dating back to before 1900. Since its acquisition by the family-owned Alsatian distillery Miclo in 2009, the estate has continued under the same philosophy: preserving its heritage and style with great care.
