Description
Antinori Tenuta Montenisa Marchese Antinori Brut Rosé is a refined sparkling rosé from the prestigious Franciacorta region in northern Italy. Crafted by the historic Antinori family, it marries elegance and structure in a style that rivals the great sparkling wines of the world. This cuvée is designed for those who appreciate precision, finesse, and a distinctly Italian sense of style in their rosé bubbles.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Franciacorta rosé shows a delicate, luminous onion-skin to soft salmon-pink hue, enlivened by a fine, persistent bead of bubbles. The nose opens with wild strawberry, pomegranate, redcurrant and blood orange zest, layered with notes of rose petal, brioche, fresh pastry and a subtle mineral edge.
On the palate, Marchese Antinori Brut Rosé is dry, crisp and beautifully balanced, with a silky mousse and a vibrant backbone of acidity. Flavors of juicy red berries, pink grapefruit, pear and a hint of cranberry intertwine with nuances of toasted hazelnut and fresh baguette from extended aging on the lees. The finish is long, clean and savory, with a gentle, chalky minerality that invites another sip. While meant to be enjoyed in its youth for freshness and charm, this Franciacorta has the structure to develop additional complexity over 3–5 years in bottle, gaining more biscuit and dried-fruit notes with time.
Production
Sourced from Antinori’s Tenuta Montenisa estate in the heart of Franciacorta, the grapes benefit from morainic, mineral-rich soils and a temperate climate moderated by nearby Lake Iseo. The blend is typically based on Pinot Noir for color and structure, complemented by Chardonnay (and, in some vintages, a touch of Pinot Bianco) for finesse and aromatic lift. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve acidity and delicate aromatics. After a gentle pressing, the base wines are fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, keeping fruit expression pure and precise. A careful assemblage of lots is then made, with a short maceration on the Pinot Noir skins to achieve the rosé’s subtle hue. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle following the traditional method, with an extended period of aging on the lees—typically around two years—to build texture, complexity and fine, creamy bubbles before disgorgement and a finely judged dosage.
Food & Serving
This Brut Rosé is a versatile partner at the table, ideal as an aperitif yet structured enough to accompany a full meal. Pair it with salmon tartare, tuna carpaccio, sushi and sashimi, or delicate charcuterie such as prosciutto crudo and salumi from northern Italy. It also shines alongside prawn risotto, tomato-based seafood pastas, grilled lobster, or lightly spiced poultry dishes and soft-rind cheeses. Serve well-chilled at 8–10 °C (46–50 °F) to highlight its freshness and fine mousse. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass or in a decanter for sparkling wines is sufficient to let the aromas open; extended decanting is not necessary, but avoiding over-chilling will allow its subtle red-fruit and brioche notes to fully emerge.
Producer
The Antinori family is one of Italy’s most storied wine dynasties, with a history in viticulture and winemaking dating back over six centuries to 1385. While renowned for their benchmark Tuscan wines, the family established Tenuta Montenisa in Franciacorta to express Italy’s premier traditional-method sparkling wine terroir. Nestled around the village of Calino, the estate has become a reference point for elegant, terroir-driven Franciacorta, combining Antinori’s deep experience with meticulous vineyard management and modern cellar technology. The Marchese Antinori range, including this Brut Rosé, represents the family’s commitment to premium, estate-grown sparkling wines that stand among the finest in the region and reinforce Antinori’s role as a leading force in Italian fine wine.
