Description
Anselmet Torrette Supérieur Élevé en Fût de Chêne is a refined expression of the Aosta Valley, showing how altitude, native grapes, and careful élevage can create a red wine with real character. Crafted in Villeneuve from Petit Rouge, Fumin, and Cornalin, it brings together mountain freshness, spice, and elegant oak-influenced complexity in a distinctly regional style.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red color that immediately suggests energy and finesse. The bouquet opens with red berries and spice, followed by subtle smoky nuances, violet, incense, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, the wine is direct and harmonious, with a pleasing balance of softness and freshness, lifted by a gentle spicy texture that gives it shape and length.
This is a wine that combines clarity with depth, making it appealing now while still offering room to develop further complexity over the next few years. Its structure and aromatic profile suggest good short- to medium-term aging potential.
Production
The grapes are grown at high altitude in the Aosta Valley, between 750 and 900 meters above sea level, where cool mountain conditions help preserve freshness and aromatic precision. The blend is led by Petit Rouge, supported by Fumin and Cornalin, all key native varieties of the region. Vinification includes aging in French barriques with bâtonnage, adding subtle oak complexity and texture without overpowering the wine’s alpine identity.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled lamb, game birds, mushroom risotto, and aged mountain cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C to allow the aromatics and structure to fully open. Decanting for 30–45 minutes is recommended, especially if serving the wine young.
