Albino Rocca’s "Angelo" Barbaresco is a heartfelt tribute to the family’s father, Angelo, and a beautiful expression of Nebbiolo from the Barbaresco hills. Combining fruit from several estate vineyards in Barbaresco and San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, it captures both tradition and elegance in a style that is rich, layered, and unmistakably Piedmontese.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2020 Barbaresco typically shows a bright garnet hue with the classic transparency of Nebbiolo. The nose is refined and inviting, with aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, dried herbs, and hints of spice and earth. On the palate, it is structured yet graceful, with precise tannins, lively acidity, and a long, savory finish. The long maceration and traditional vinification lend depth and texture, while the 2020 vintage should give it excellent aging potential; it will continue to develop complexity over the next 8–15 years, gaining more nuance, dried floral notes, and truffle-like character.

Production
"Angelo" is made from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from multiple vineyards in the Barbaresco zone and San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, giving the wine a broader expression of the region’s terroir. The grapes are harvested from carefully cultivated hillside sites and vinified using submerged-cap fermentation in an oak vat, followed by a long maceration to extract color, aroma, and structure in a traditional way.

Food & Serving
This Barbaresco pairs wonderfully with rich Piedmontese dishes such as tajarin with meat ragù, braised beef, veal, game birds, mushroom risotto, and truffle-based recipes. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for about 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the aromatics and tannins to open fully.
