Aalto 2007

Aalto 2007 is a mature, classically styled Ribera del Duero from one of the region’s most respected producers. Made entirely from Tempranillo, it reflects the depth and finesse that have helped establish Aalto as a benchmark name in modern Spanish wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the polish and development you would expect from a well-aged red, with an expressive bouquet of dried dark berries, leather, tobacco, spices, and seamlessly integrated oak. The palate is round and complex, with silky texture, ripe tannins, and a long, lingering finish that still carries plenty of energy and character. This is a wine that has aged gracefully and can continue to hold at a high level for those who enjoy mature Tempranillo. Its balance of fruit, structure, and secondary aromas makes it especially appealing now, while still offering enough depth to remain compelling over time.

Production
Aalto 2007 comes from old Tempranillo vines, many between 40 and 80 years of age, sourced from leased parcels across Ribera del Duero as well as younger vines from the estate’s own vineyards in Valladolid. All grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before vinification. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 16 months in a combination of new and used French and American oak barrels, adding structure and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for game, braised meat dishes, and mature cheeses. Serve at 17-18 °C, and consider giving it a brief decant or allowing it to breathe before pouring to fully open its aromatic layers.
