Tasting Notes
In the glass, Aalto 2006 shows a refined, evolved profile with a deep garnet core and brick-toned highlights at the rim. The nose opens with dried dark fruits, balsamic nuances, tobacco, leather, and warm spice, layered with the subtle complexity that comes from careful oak ageing. On the palate, the wine is rounded and elegant, with silky tannins, impressive depth, and a long, harmonious finish. Its mature structure and balanced evolution suggest excellent ageing potential, while also making it a rewarding wine to enjoy now.

Production
Aalto 2006 is made from 100% Tempranillo, sourced from 40- to 80-year-old vines on leased plots as well as younger vines from Aalto’s own vineyards in Valladolid, in Castilla y León. The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure optimal ripeness and quality. After fermentation, the wine aged for 16 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak barrels, adding structure, complexity, and ageing capacity.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for robust meat dishes, game, and mature cheeses. Serve at 17–18 °C, and decanting beforehand is recommended to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic depth and texture.
