Description

Domaine de Oliveira Lecestre’s 2024 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume brings together one of Chablis’ most admired Premier Cru sites and the bright, mineral-driven style the appellation is known for. Sourced from Burgundy’s cool northern edge, it offers a refined expression of Chardonnay with extra depth, structure, and age-worthy finesse.

Tasting Notes
Pale lemon in the glass, this Chablis 1er Cru is typically marked by a clean, luminous appearance that hints at its freshness and precision. The nose should open with citrus blossom, green apple, white peach, and classic Chablis notes of wet stone, chalk, and a saline lift. On the palate, expect a taut, elegant wine with crisp acidity, fine minerality, and a focused line of fruit. Fourchaume often adds a little more breadth and generosity than village-level Chablis, while still staying firmly in a fresh, linear style. With proper cellaring, it should develop added complexity over the next 5 to 8 years, and potentially longer in excellent storage.

Production
Fourchaume is one of the best-known Premier Cru climats in Chablis, located on Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in marine fossils, which are central to the region’s distinctive mineral character. The cool climate of northern Burgundy helps preserve acidity and aromatic purity, while careful harvesting ensures grapes are picked at optimal ripeness. Vinification is typically focused on precision and restraint to highlight terroir rather than overt oak influence.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, grilled white fish, sushi, roast chicken, and creamy goat cheese. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting only if you want to soften its youthful tension and let the aromas open up.
