Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a pale golden hue. The nose is elegant and lifted, with citrus zest, white peach, subtle herbs, and a distinct chalky limestone character that gives it a refined, stony edge. On the palate, it is taut, focused, and beautifully structured, with vibrant acidity and a saline, mineral-driven finish. The fruit is pristine rather than flashy, and the wine’s concentration and balance suggest excellent aging potential over the next decade or more, where it should gain even more complexity and nuance.

Production
The Kirchspiel vineyard in Westhofen is one of Rheinhessen’s flagship Riesling sites, prized for its deep limestone marl and limestone soils, gentle slopes, and cool microclimate that promote slow, even ripening. The grapes were selectively hand-harvested, gently pressed, fermented with natural yeasts, and matured mainly in large oak casks, followed by several months on fine lees to build texture, depth, and precision.

Food & Serving
This is an outstanding match for turbot, shellfish, veal with a light sauce, or refined Asian dishes with gentle spice. It also works very well with aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at 9–11°C, and decanting is optional but can be helpful if the wine is very young and you want to open up its aromatic complexity.
